The purpose of this Committee is to enable farmers and food entrepreneurs in a 22-county area of North Carolina Piedmont to expand their markets, increase their revenues, and revitalize their farms and businesses, as well as initiate new enterprises related to local farm products and added-value foods.
The Steering Committee consists of a County Commissioner, a County Manager (or his designee), the Cooperative Extension Director of each of the Parties (Alamance, Chatham, Durham, & Orange Counties), and a local farmer from each county. Orange County will act as the fiscal agent and engage in grant development for regional value-added, shared-use, food and agricultural processing center. |
