The main objective of the Environmental Health Division is to promote and protect public health through the enforcement of local and state public health and environmental health laws, rules and regulations. As part of that mission, the Division of Environmental Health inspects establishments such as restaurants (and other food service establishments), licensed child care centers, lodging establishments and institutions (such as schools, hospitals and rest homes).
The Environmental Health Division utilizes the CDP (Custom Data Processing) web site for establishment inspections scores to help you make informed choices. This site allows you to search for current inspection scores including violations for all establishments.
The CDP web site can be accessed via the following link: https://public.cdpehs.com/NCENVPBL/ESTABLISHMENT/ShowESTABLISHMENTTablePage.aspx?ESTTST_CTY=32
Environmental Health Specialists (EHS) who enforce these rules and regulations are required to be authorized by the North Carolina Division of Environmental Health and registered by the North Carolina State Board of Sanitarian Examiners. For more information, please feel free to contact the Environmental Health Division at (919) 560-7800 or via email at health@durhamcountync.gov.
